One Last Mandarin

Yesterday I just couldn't figure out what I felt like painting.... so I ended up not painting anything! UGH.

This morning, however, I was ready to go! I painted this first thing, and am ready to paint another! Thank goodness I found this one last mandarin orange hiding in the lower drawer of the crisper! :)

I love to paint!.... well most of the time. I've painted "large" and "tight" for years. For me, this all too often translates into a laborious and stressful painting experience; in other words, NO FUN. Fortunately, I've discovered Daily Painting! I read Carol's book in a day, and well, here I am! Looking to loosen up, learn everything I can, and have fun!

Like many artists, I have no formal art education. I've attended various classes and workshops, but figured a lot of things out for myself (aka, recreated the wheel!) Oil is my choice of medium, though I'll pick up acrylics and watercolor occasionally. Still lifes inspire me, especially when they capture a mood or a sense of a moment. I've found the same inspiration from figurative work. And, by the way, I absolutely love loose and/or abstract work. Alas, BOTH allude me! :)
